Mark S. Lanier
December 23, 1955 - June 18, 2017
Mark S. Lanier, 61, of Tybee Island, GA, passed away at home on Sunday, June 18, 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Cheri Lanier, brother, Dennis Lanier, and children, Amanda Lanier and Christine Gonzalez.
Mark Lanier was a disabled veteran who served in the United States Navy. He qualified in the Submarine Service in 1974 and served on the USS James K. Polk SSBN 645 and on the USS John C. Calhoun SSBN 630.
He was a founding member of the Committee for the Tybee Island Veterans Memorial which now stands in front of Tybee Island City Hall.

I served two patrols on the USS John C. Calhoun (SSBN 630) Blue Crew with Mark and Dennis Lanier all of us were in the IC Gang. Mark was a great man and I am very sorry to hear of his passing. My prayers are with his family.
